The Logistics Cluster has been active in Iraq since 2014, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the affected population by providing the humanitarian community with information management, coordination, and access to common logistics services such as transport and storage. Since its activation, the Logistics Cluster operation has been shaped based on the needs identified by the humanitarian community and requests for support.

During the first half of 2018, more predictable supply chains and pipelines, growing local market capacity and a general downsizing in humanitarian actors’ presence led to a decrease in demand for logistics services facilitated by the cluster. Following this decrease and upon receipt of feedback from partners, it was evident that the key logistics gaps initially identified had either been resolved or changed. In close collaboration with partners, a decision was made to transition to a Logistics Sector Working Group from March 2019. This sector group will continue to hold monthly coordination meetings in Baghdad and Erbil, maintain partner communication through a Skype group and mailing list and will actively follow customs issues throughout 2019. Focal points for this working group are:

Ahmed Al Karawi

Husham Abdallah

As part of the transition, this page will be closed on 28 February with all documents remaining available on the Iraq country page here.
