The Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) is a key consultative body supporting the Logistics Cluster’s mission to deliver effective and coordinated humanitarian logistics responses. Composed of representatives from partner organisations, the SAG provides strategic guidance, fosters collaboration, and ensures that the Cluster’s activities remain aligned with the evolving needs of the humanitarian community.
The SAG meets regularly to review operational priorities, discuss emerging challenges, and shape the strategic direction of the Cluster at both global and field levels. By facilitating open dialogue and collective decision-making, the SAG helps strengthen partnerships, promote best practices, and drive innovation across the humanitarian logistics sector.
Membership in the SAG is open to active Logistics Cluster partners, with representatives selected to ensure a diverse and balanced perspective. The group operates transparently, encouraging input from the wider partner community and supporting the Cluster’s commitment to accountability and inclusivity.

He started his working life in the UK transport ministry working on international maritime law. After working on the response to the air travel disruption caused by the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland in 2010, he was seconded to DG ECHO to what is now the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) helping to coordinate the EU civil protection response to disasters around the world. He was then drafted into a taskforce working on the European migration crisis, and then on support to transport of COVID-19 equipment for EU Member States.
