Venezuela Logistics Working Group

Country Working Group

Description:

In 2025, the Logistics Cluster transitioned into a WFP-led Logistics Working Group (LWG), following the recommendations of the Gap and Needs Assessment (GNA 2024). This change made it possible to adopt a more sustainable coordination model that better fits the operational context of the country. The GNA results and the regional workshops held in Sucre, Anzoátegui, Táchira and Zulia identified relevant gaps in storage, transportation, territorial access and institutional preparedness. Based on this, the LWG defined a strategic approach focused on innovation, strengthening local capacities and emergency preparedness, aiming for a more effective and people‑centred humanitarian response.

For 2026, the LWG has outlined three key goals. The first is to reinforce inter‑institutional preparedness through updated contingency plans, minimum logistical capacities and coordinated protocols. Six technical workshops will be held, integrating risk analysis and simulations to improve decision‑making.  The second goal is to optimise the operational efficiency of the humanitarian sector by promoting the integration of local actors, documenting bottlenecks and creating tools adapted to the Venezuelan context.  Lastly, the LWG will strengthen logistics information management, producing analytical products that facilitate coordination, as well as the pooling of resources to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency.
