Ethiopia
Ethiopia Emergency
Cluster OperationStatus: Active | Start date: | End date: ONGOING
Description:
The Logistics Cluster supports partners by coordinating and providing common services to address logistics challenges across Ethiopia. The operational environment is complex and dynamic, marked by conflict, disease outbreaks, floods, and drought. The Cluster has played a key role by offering a neutral platform for stakeholders to share information, identify common issues, and develop joint solutions that improve efficiency in humanitarian response.
Through coordination at the national and regional levels, the Logistics Cluster ensures partners receive timely updates on transport routes, access restrictions, storage facilities, and convoy operations. Regular coordination meetings and distribution of information management products, such as the Logistics Information Exchange (LogIE) and Operational Overviews, help partners make informed decisions and plan their operations effectively.
The Cluster also enables partners to access common logistics services when gaps in the local supply chain hinder their ability to deliver life-saving assistance. These services are provided on a free-to-user basis to ensure equitable access for humanitarian organizations responding to the needs of affected populations. Additionally, the Cluster promotes collaboration with government institutions, local authorities, and other humanitarian coordination groups to strengthen the overall response. By building partnerships and creating operational synergies, the Logistics Cluster helps improve humanitarian access and ensures timely delivery of essential relief items to communities in need.
