Concept:
In the Logistics Response Training (LRT) skilled logistics professionals are tested in a rigorous 6-day simulation, providing immediate operational logistics surge capacity.
This training is designed to give the participants a realistic emergency experience through working in field-like conditions, (in tents and with limited connectivity). The LRT training aims to develop the emergency response management knowledge and capacities of senior logistics managers and first responders. The training's objective is to prepare skilled logisticians who can be deployed to provide immediate operational logistics surge capacity and assume an initial coordination role during an emergency.
Objective:
The main objective of this training is to increase the efficiency of logistics response in humanitarian emergency settings by:
- Having a common understanding of the principles, attitude, skills and knowledge required to operate as inter-agency logistics experts within the international emergency response architecture;
- Applying best practices, tools and methodologies to achieve mission objectives;
- Designing an emergency humanitarian logistics response strategy;
- Practicing logistics assessments and information management;
- Establishing and maintaining partnerships, including application of a service mindset.
Training Outcomes:
- Improved knowledge of emergency response management for senior logistics officers.
- Enhanced technical, leadership and project management skills in emergency settings.
- A community of practice established.
- Reduced duplication of efforts and more efficient use of existing assets in emergencies thanks to common operational mechanisms.
Duration:
7 days in simulation, some pre-reading and one webinar of 4 hours prior to the exercise.
Target Audience:
The learning experience is directly designed to enhance the capacities of senior logistics officers and emergency coordinators from the humanitarian sector, however it is beneficial to every humanitarian engaged or that will be engaged in emergency responses in the near future.
