VISA Requirements
Visas are to be obtained for both Lebanon and Syria by all staff:
Syria:
All staff, including those holding a UNLP, has to request their visa prior to departure from their Duty Station. Exception: Nationals of the following countries can obtain their visas at the airport:
- Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, UAE, Yemen Republic.
- Nationals of Morocco, except females aged 18 to 25 who require special permission from the Syrian Chief of Immigration, unless married to a national of Syria and having proof of marriage.
Lebanon
Visa for Lebanon can be obtained at the border for staff holding UNLPs and for staff with the nationals of the following countries:
Andorra, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China (PR), Cost Rica, Cyprus, Iceland, Korea (Rep), Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Moncao, Norway, Panama, Peru, Singapore, Switzerland, Venezuela, Austria, FInland, France, Greece, Italy, Holland, Spain, Britain, Norway, Canada, Chile, Argentina, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Luxenbourg, Portugal, Sweden, USA, Austria, Mexico,Venezuela, Brazil.
Nationals from the following countries do not require a visa:
(a) Nationals of Syria for unlimited stays, provided arriving directly from Syria (check with Embassy for current regulations);
(b) Nationals of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE for stays of up to 3 months
Note: Restricted entry: The Government of Lebanon refuses entry to holders of Israeli and Palestinian passports, holders of passports containing a visa for Israel, valid or expired, used or unused and passports with entry stamps to Israel.
Cyprus
Visa required by all except the following
- nationals of Britain, Australia, Canada, USA, Other EU, Japan for a stay of up to 90 days;
- nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Korea (Rep), Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela, and Special Administrative Regions of the Peoples’ Republic of China: Hong Kong and Macao for a stay of up to 90 days;
- (c) transit passengers continuing their onward journey by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours provided holding valid onward or return documentation and not leaving the airport.
