From April 1st 2009, UNHAS will have a PAC 750 aircraft based in Juba which will be dedicated to moving cargo around Southern Sudan. This service will be run on a cost recovery basis. A flat rate of $3 per kilo will be charged no matter what the final destination. The full capacity of the aircraft is 800kgs.
The current service UNHAS and UNJLC have been providing of 20hours free large cargo movement per month will cease from 1/4/09. UNJLC will co-ordinate the new service. Attached are the specifications of the new aircraft including dimensions and a Cargo Movement Request form which must be fully completed and returned to sudan.juba@unjlc.org to request movements.
Priority will be given as follows:
- Priority 1:Medical items
- Priority 2(a):Interagency communication and IT equipment for MOSS compliance
- Priority 2(b):Communication and IT equipment
- Priority 3: NFIs; Shelter Material; Water and sanitation material
- Priority 4:All other cargo
This service will run for an undetermined trial period. If successful and useful to the Humanitarian Community, an aircraft will be permanently based in Southern Sudan for this purpose.
