In late May 2006, UNCAS launched a CERF-funded project for the transport of passengers and cargo responding to this year's drought emergency. This is a three-month project to cover the critical emergency response phase.
So far, only minimal use has been made of this service.
Again, we would like to make all humanitarian partners working on the drought response aware of this transportation option, particularly also the cargo service. In addition to cargo transported on scheduled flights, there is also the possibility to charter a flight specifically for cargo up to 4t. Details can be obtained from UNCAS. However, please follow the procedure of booking passengers and cargo through OCHA.
