📉 🚢🚚 GHG Emission Global Information Session on Sustainable Freight
📅 On 21 April, this WREC Global Info Session brought together participants from across the humanitarian sector to share practical ways to cut freight emissions while improving operations.  Speakers highlighted the Avoid–Shift–Improve approach, stressing that better planning, 🗺️ route optimisation and consolidation often deliver the biggest gains, and showcased two real-world examples: 🚢 UNICEF’s shift of routine vaccine shipments from air to sea (around 90% lower emissions and 50% average cost savings) and WFP South Sudan’s pre-positioning to reduce reliance on air operations (estimated 90–95% lower transport emissions when shifting to river/road).
