Study on regional waste management capacities in the context of humanitarian emergency operations

Summary

Content

In small island states, due to the fragility of their ecosystems, waste management is an existing challenge. PIRAC/French Red Cross has carried out a study to assess management and treatment capacities of waste generated by emergency operations in the America-Caribbean zone. This research has led to solutions  that emergency operators can implement to reduce and eliminate the waste generated by their operations, as part of a humanitarian aid approach that has a lower  environmental impact.
