ACTION POINTS:

• Logistics Cluster to announce the next river movement to Akobo, request SRF submissions, and provide convoy updates upon arrival.
• Logistics Cluster to convene major river users to discuss cargo grouping and a regular departure schedule from Bor.

• All partners regularly consult the Access Constraints Map for updated accessibility information.

   

1. Funding Status and Operational Impact

• Logistics Cluster did not receive funding from the latest US-SSHF allocation.
• Ongoing donor engagement and advocacy efforts continue.
• No confirmed funding outlook in the near term for the Logistics Cluster.
• Helicopter operation is expected to cease by 31 October 2026 due to high operational costs.
• Only a limited number of airlift rotations remain before suspension.

2. Jonglei and Akobo Response Updates

   River:

• Recent interagency convoys to Akobo experienced delays in Malakal due to attempted taxation of humanitarian cargo. Next convoy will be communicated once this convoy arrives in Akobo.
• Joint engagement with authorities successfully resolved the issue.
• Convoy movement continued without major security incidents.
• Inter-agency waybills proved effective in facilitating cargo movement via the Sobat corridor.

 Road:

• Seasonal flooding continues to affect multiple road corridors.
• Several routes remain inaccessible or difficult for commercial transporters.
• Bentiu corridor remains partially accessible but challenging.
• Access Constraints Map remains the primary source of road access information.

3. Ebola (EVD) Preparedness

• Ebola preparedness activities continue under dedicated funding arrangements.
• MSU installation and PPE stock cleanup activities have been completed at the National Public Health Institute (NPHI) store at the Infectious Disease Unit (IDU) in Juba.
• Dedicated aircraft support continues for laboratory sample transportation via UNHAS and EVD non-food items deliveries through the Logistics Cluster (Submit requests to southsudan.clustercargo@wfp.org.
• Multi-purpose tents are being procured locally to support response operations (Request by email to fiona.lithgow@wfp.org and simon.augustine@wfp.org .

4. Training Updates

• Fleet Management Training was successfully completed with strong participation.
• Environmental Sustainability Training is planned for August-September.
• Proposed topics include solarization, waste management, and recycling.
• Donors increasingly require environmental sustainability measures in projects.

Key Highlights

• Funding shortfalls in the Logistics Cluster.
• Suspension of helicopter operations as of 31^st October 2026.
• Seasonal access constraints.

Way Forward

• Strengthen inter-agency coordination.
• Increase utilization of river transport.
• Continue donor advocacy to sustain critical logistics services.
• Promote proactive contingency planning by all partners.
