Content
Sea Transport
- Don Alfredo, the container vessel that left Cebu on 20 November, reached Tacloban with 900 m3 / 300MT of relief goods for UNICEF, UNHCR, Save the Children, Samaritan's Purse, ACF and 4 MSUs. Containers have been offloaded on the quay.
- The Logistics Cluster is facilitating the movement of relief goods for the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Leyte Island.
Air Transport
- The Logistics Cluster has facilitated the transport of shelter items on behalf of Save the Children via British military air assets
- Two UNHAS helicopters (10 pax) and one fixed wing King Air aircraft (9pax) are now operational out of Cebu serving the humanitarian community.
- Three commercial passenger airlines are now operating in and out of Tacloban airport.
- The Logistics Cluster has received heavy lifting equipment from DFID in Cebu. The equipment will be dispatched to Tacloban to assist airport operations in preparation for the potential US Military Forces demobilization. US Military forces are offering transport by air assets (both fixed wings/helicopters). Destinations will be driven by demand.
Storage
- Another 6 Mobile Storage Units (MSUs) have been airlifted to Tacloban. The MSUs will be set up in an identified site in Palo, located 3 km from Tacloban airport and 6 km from the seaport. The land is already cleared and it is estimated that 20 to 25 10x24 m MSUs can be established on the site.
Coordination
- A Logistics Cluster Coordination meeting was held in Manila with more than 30 humanitarian organisations in attendance.
- Logistics Cluster staff have been deployed to the three locations - Roxas, Ormoc, Guiuan
Gaps and Constraints
- Availability of landing slots at Tacloban airport continues to be a constraint.
