1. HIGHLIGHTS

National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) confirmed 809 deaths and 133,730 houses severely damaged (as of 13 Oct 2009)

Shelter has been identified as a priority by BNPB

USG/ERC, Sir. Jon Holmes visited Padang on 14 Oct 2009

The cluster is currently offering four wiikhalls for inter-agency use as following: three wiikhalls in Padang city and one wiikhall in Padang Pariaman District
- The cluster is also supporting the response through provision of equipment, i.e. four Manitou forklifts in Padang City
- IOM continued their support to cluster by providing about 81 trucks as to date and will be operating for 3 (months) in Padang
- Discussion with BNPB regarding Customs and coordination still on going
- Customs procedures have been provided by Logistics Cluster to the international community
2. LOGISTICS COORDINATION

Procedures for using wiikhalls and transport assistance will be disseminated and is available on Logistics Cluster Website
3. OPERATIONAL UPDATE
3.1 Projects of Cluster Participants
WFP, IOM, WHO, OXFAM, DFID, MAP Action, Malteser International, Handicap International, People in Need, Medair, BBN, WVI, IMC, DHL, USAID, Save the Children, TNT, ACF, Island Aid, GAA, Agility.
3.2 Humanitarian hubs, distribution facilities and temporary
storage
- Site for erecting one wiikhall in Padang Pariaman District has been identified
- Hub in Padang city has been established
- Airlifts by Australian Military will continue up to end of October
- Airlifts by US Military has been stopped
- Discussion on going with Logistics Cluster members on Pipeline and Agency assets
- To date WFP has distributed 106.364 MT of biscuits and noodles in Padang Pariaman District; IOM has been delivered about 1,684MT of relief items for more than 50 humanitarian agency; OXFAM is starting to distribute hygiene kits in Padang Pariaman District; IFRC together with PMI still operating 3 helicopter for medical teams ; GAA is planning to distribute 7,000 – 10,000 health kit; and AcF finished their operation in Pariaman by 15 October 2009
