1. HIGHLIGHT
No humanitarian cargo entered Gaza today.
2. BORDER CROSSING:
As a consequence of the insecurity for humanitarian workers in Gaza, no humanitarian cargo crossed through Kerem Shalom today. Although,41 commercial trucks, have been reported delivered to Gaza.
Cargo operations at Erez crossing point are expected to resume in the coming days given the sufficient security guarantees.
3. LOGISTICS COORDINATION:
A meeting will take place tomorrow 10th January in El Arish between the Logistics Cluster, the local Governor and the Red Crescent. Purpose of the meeting is to explore the extent to which the Logistics Cluster can assist in management of the inbound and outbound movements of aid assistance to Gaza from the Egypt corridor. This is to be viewed as an effort to coordinate and avoid duplication of assistance entering from Israel.
4. CIVIL MILITARY COORDINATION:
The Coordination office of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) informed that a request for the increase of the current height of cargo pallets (i.e. from 1.2 m to 1.6 m), have been submitted to them. The change could increase the aid capacity, although this would impede the increased security check (i.e. search dog). As reported by COGAT the request had not been rejected and will be reviewed.
