1. HIGHLIGHTS
All crossing points closed today due to the Shabbat.
Cargo movement resumed today within the Gaza strip.
The Joint Humanitarian Coordination Centre (JHCC) informed that the ceasefire timing will be gradually increased.
2. BORDER CROSSING:
The JHCC informed that, although so far operations at Kerem Shalom crossing point has been fluid, pallets are piling up on the open space. This may slow down crossing operations, in the next days for incoming trucks, until the collection of pallets waiting on the Palestian side is expedited.
A similar situation is reported for fuel (heavy fuel and gas) at Nahal Oz crossing point.
At the moment the opening of the Sufa crossing point foreseen difficult due to security and logistics constraints.
The JHCC set for tomorrow the crossing of 100 trucks at Kerem Shalom as objective.
The JHCC submitted a request to IDF for the opening of Karni crossing. The cell is waiting for IDF feedback.
For tomorrow, exceptionally, a 25 trucks UNRWA convoy is planned to enter Gaza from Erez crossing point.
3. LOGISTICS COORDINATION:
A cargo has been consolidated today for humanitarian personnel inside Gaza essential requirements. The request for the submission of the approval to the Erez crossing point has been submitted.
Due to the Israeli requirement for palletized cargo entering Gaza (with the exception of medicine and medical supplies), the current capacity at the El Arish (Egypt) airport is reported to be limited.
The Director of the El Arish (Egypt) airport agreed to provide a staging area within the airport. The current capacity at the Airport has been increased thanks to private citizens and corporations activities to support the relief efforts for Gaza. Thus, it is expected that this increase cannot be retained and cannot be considered sustainable in the longer-term.
4. CIVIL MILITARY COORDINATION:
As reported by JHCC priority for vehicle movements inside the Gaza strip is given to ambulances and evacuation operations lead by ICRC.
5. ELECTRICITY:
The JHCC informed that they are monitoring the electricity production of power plant inside Gaza. At the moment the output of the power plants is at the 58% of their capacity. This will certainly increase when the bottleneck for delivery of fuel from Nahal Oz crossing point will be addressed.
