The heavy rains and flash flood that have hit Zambia this rainy season have resulted in roads and bridges/culverts being damaged. The districts that have been affected the most include Southern, Eastern, Western, and Lusaka Provinces.
The worst affected areas that require immediately rehabilitation are the following: Batoka – Maamba, Great East Road, Zimba – Livingstone, Chipata – Lundazi, Kasama – Mbala and many rural and urban roads. The Government has identified these areas as problematic and given access to resources will rehabilitate on a large scale. Presently spot repairs are being done to keep main roads open for commercial traffic.
