- Overland transport towards and across the Somalia border continued without incidents this week.
- Overland transport inside Somalia continues to be hampered by seasonal rains. Roads in Gedo, Lower and Middle Juba are affected, particularly in the Afmadow-Badhade area where roads are flooded to such an extent now that some areas are cut off. No weather-related impediments were reported from the north this week.
- Continued tension amongst the Marjetan and Marehan in Lower Juba, including Kismayo, and small clashes that continued between both sub-clans south of Kismayo caused some delays this week and raised hesitance amongst contractors to operate in the area. This affects transport routes connecting areas controlled by the Ogaden, Marjetan and Marehan, namely Afmadow, Badhade, Kismayo and Jamame. Re-grouping is reportedly currently taken place for another round of fighting, anticipated along the Kismayo-Jamame road. Continued looting of cargo in the area remains a major concern.
- A mine explosion was reported between the airport and Kismayo town this week. Organisations are advised to exercise caution with more mine incidents expected.
- Air access has improved following a high-level meeting between the TFG and UN representatives last week, announcing unhindered air access across south-central. Also K50 is open for both passengers and cargo again.
- Relative calm in Mogadishu has prompted the return of businessmen, including those who are suppliers of NFIs for some humanitarian organisations.
