- Roads flooded by seasonal rain continued to constitute a major obstacle to cargo movement inside Somalia this week. Afmadow, Buale, Kismayo and Badade remained the most affected areas.
- Delays and passage fee demands at both TFG checkpoints and freelance-militia roadblocks continue to be experienced throughout South-Central, slowing down the transport of relief convoys. Lower Shabelle, Bay and Bakool remain the most affected areas.
- The curfew that was imposed in Kismayo on 7 May remains in effect. The curfew starts at 9pm every evening.
- Discharge at Kismayo port was disrupted this week when on 12 and 13 May Marehan-affiliated militia brought activities at the port to a standstill with revenue demands. Moreover, because of bad weather conditions and the curfew in place, the port closes at 5pm at the moment, thus slowing down the discharge of vessels now taking double the time than usual.
- Three more cases of pirating of commercial vessels were reported this week off the coast of Mogadishu.
- Under the leadership of World Vision, the road that had until now run through the Buale airstrip has been diverted around the landing side by the local community.
- Urgent rehabilitation works are expected to commence at Wajid airstrip later next week. Works are estimated to last for 8 week. Information on its impact on flight services for Wajid will be circulated by UNCAS shortly.
