1. General Updates
- The entry of “dual-use” items is scheduled twice weekly on non-fixed days, creating planning constraints. This week, it is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday, subject to approvals and advance planning.
- According to Israeli authorities, there will be a change in the route leading to Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem (KS/KAS). Partners will be informed when exact route is communicated by the authorities.
- A pest control initiative led by UNDP in coordination with the WASH Cluster is underway, and partners are encouraged to submit priority locations to be included in the pest control plan through the link circulated. For any questions, partners can reach out to the Logistics Cluster team at inigo.ranz@wfp.org
-
Warehouse availability remained limited, particularly in the northern areas, while most storage demand continued to be concentrated in the central area; the Logistics Cluster continues to explore opportunities to expand storage capacity and identify safe and accessible warehouse locations. Partners are encouraged to share any available storage space to support further expansion.
- Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem (KS/KAS) Cargo Collection
- Offloading schedule remains Sunday to Thursday, while Friday and Saturday are limited to uplift only.
- The Logistics Cluster last collection mission from the KS/KAS platform was conducted on 10 May.
- Access to the platform remains restricted to international staff and limited to one organisation at a time.
- A partial inventory was completed on 11 May due to access limitations, estimating approximately 2,115 pallets on the platform.
- Zikim Cargo Collection
- The uplift capacity remains limited to 100 trucks (humanitarian and commercial combined) per day.
- Due to congestion at the platform, Friday and Saturday operations started alternating between humanitarian and commercial traffic; going forward, Fridays may be reserved exclusively for commercial trucks, while Saturday for humanitarian cargo.
- Platform access is available to both national and international staff.
- Drivers are required to wear a yellow vest (not orange) for access.
2. UN/INGO Upstream Truck Overview
- Between 1 and 10 May, a total of 921 trucks were manifested across all corridors, of which 22 percent were not able to offload. Overall, 718 trucks were successfully offloaded, with daily volumes varying and a maximum of 173 truck movements recorded on 7 May.
- Through Egypt, only 45 percent of trucks successfully offloaded with a higher number of returns and rejections, mainly attributed to pallet damage following inspections and cargo type, while the Jordan corridor remained relatively stable.
- Partners are requested to share their truck manifest weekly plans, to support advocacy with relevant authorities for increased slots and availability of the relevant authorities specifically for the inspection of dual-use items. Partners are required to submit their weekly tentative plan by Wednesday, and to subsequently submit the tentative daily plan by 10:00, with final manifest by 15:00.
3. Common Services Overview
- Between 1 and 10 May, the Logistics Cluster facilitated the collection of 3,234 pallets from Gaza crossings and received 2,804 pallets into Cluster warehouses across the Gaza Strip on behalf of seven partners.
- To improve end-to-end tracking, partners are requested to confirm - based on the waybill - dispatch date and receipt status (received in good condition/damaged/lost) once cargo arrives at their warehouse.
- Depending on access and security conditions, the Logistics Cluster continues to facilitate both transport and storage services. Organisations are requested to submit a Service Request Form (SRF) minimum 72 hours in advance, to access common logistics services. Once a request is accepted, the provided SRF QR code must be printed and placed on all four sides of the pallets.
4. AOB
- Partners are encouraged to contribute to the consolidated supplier list, compiled by the Logistics Cluster team. The consolidated suppliers list may be requested by contacting palestine.logcluster@wfp.org. The input source will remain confidential as organisations’ names are removed from the shared file.
- More information on Logistics Cluster services, updates, guidelines, and related links can be found on the Palestine operation webpage.
The next Logistics Cluster Gaza coordination meeting will be Tuesday 19 May at 11:00
