1. General Updates
- The weekly crossing schedule is reportedly as follows:
- Erez West (Zikim) is open on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for offloading and Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for uplifts.
- Kissufim is open on Monday and Wednesday for offloads and on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for uplifts. The Logistics Cluster does not facilitate collections from this crossing due to security conditions in the area.
- Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem (KS/KAS) maintains offloading from Sundays to Thursdays and every day for uplifting.
- Security incidents continue around both platforms (KS/KAS and Zikim).
- The diminishing of aid entering Gaza and available at crossing platforms, is resulting in fewer collection missions and lower quantity of cargo uplifted for transport.
- KS/KAS cargo collection operations
- The Cluster conducted nine collection missions from KS/KAS between 1 and 22 February. Generally, collection and transport missions are taking place when there are at least 20 truckloads of aid commodities available on the platforms – beyond exceptional needs, such as bad weather conditions.
- Physical counts are conducted twice a week. However, the crossing administration has introduced new procedures prohibiting the presence of two organisations on the platform simultaneously, causing delays to the presence of Logistics Cluster team on the platform and limiting oversight over cargo loading. The Cluster will continue advocating for simultaneous access to improve efficiency.
- Movement delays across Gaza continue, linked to military activity around Rafah and the Philadelphi Corridor.
- Erez West (Zikim) cargo collection operations
- The Cluster conducted five collection missions from Zikim between 1 and 22 February.
- Minor security incidents around convoys and at the platforms continue. A few opportunistic looting incidents occurred last week. The Cluster continues looking into ways to adjust the timings for convoys to mitigate the convoys’ exposure to security risks.
- The new 1,800 square metre warehouse in the Middle Area is now operational. The Cluster continues to assess additional warehousing options, aiming to expand capacity in Gaza City.
- The Cluster encourages partners to reach out to discuss their storage needs.
- Upstream routes
- Through Egypt, high return rates continue. Between 1 and 22 February, of the 991 trucks manifested to KS/KAS, only 326 were offloaded (33 percent).
- Through Jordan, the Logistics Cluster continues to facilitate Back-to-Back (B2B) convoys via both King Hussein - Allenby and Sheikh Hussein Bridge - Jordan River crossings. Between 1 and 22 February, the Cluster facilitated access to 19 B2B convoys with 321 trucks offloaded at Gaza crossings.
2. Common Services Overview
- Between 1 and 22 February the Logistics Cluster facilitated the collection and transport of 6,544 pallets of aid inside Gaza, and 6,535 pallets were stored in the common warehouses in Gaza - the majority of this aid was shelter items.
- Depending on access and security conditions on the ground, the Logistics Cluster continues to facilitate both transport and storage services. Organisations are requested to submit a Service Request Form (SRF) minimum 72 hours in advance, to access common logistics services. Once a request is accepted, the provided SRF QR code must be printed and placed on all four sides of the pallets.
3. Cluster Membership Review
- The Logistics Cluster is refreshing its contact list and reviewing its membership, to ensure the forum’s focus on supply chain and logistics operational discussions.
- A new contact form has been circulated. All partners are kindly requested to resubmit their contact details by 28 February.
4. AOB
- Partners are encouraged to contribute to the consolidated supplier list, compiled by the Logistics Cluster team. The consolidated suppliers list may be requested by contacting Palestine.logcluster@wfp.org. The input source will remain confidential as organisations’ names are removed from the shared file.
- More information on Logistics Cluster services, updates, guidelines, and related links can be found on the Palestine operation webpage.
The next Logistics Cluster Gaza coordination meeting will be Tuesday 3 March at 11:00
