The JI Packaging Baseline Assessment Tool was developed to conduct a baseline analysis of packaging used in the delivery of humanitarian relief items. It supports planning for proper packaging management and the identification of packaging reduction measures. The tool is structured in three spreadsheets:
• Dataset spreadsheet: this spreadsheet is to be filled one time before performing the analysis.
It presents information on the packaging used in different relief items (type of primary and
secondary packaging, the weight of packaging, capacity, etc.)
• Input spreadsheet: this spreadsheet is to be filled every time a baseline analysis is required. It
presents the amounts of procured relief items and destination countries. The worksheet will
automatically calculate the volumes of primary and secondary packaging for each relief item based
on data entered in the Dataset worksheet
• Charts spreadsheet: this spreadsheet contains several charts to analyze the data entered in the
previous sheet.
