Highlights:
- After all humanitarian staff and assets were moved out of the Vanni as per request of the government, the first humanitarian relief convoy carrying WFP food successfully departed from the IA Logistics Hub in Vavuniya and offloaded a total of 653MT of rice, wheat flour, pulses and oil.
- The food delivered will provide a 6 day ration for app. 200,000 beneficiaries.
- The convoy departed on Thursday 02 October and returned on Saturday 04 October.
- Food offloaded in 4 locations: Mulliyawalai, Puthukkudiyiruppu, Tharmapuram and Kandavalai.
- For distribution purposes the convoy split into four sub-convoys delivering to different destinations and making return to Vavuniya separately
