On 23rd September the Logistics Cluster realised a road assessment of Soroti find below thew main issues:
- the road that links Soroti with Katakwi strongly washed out and is now impassable for small and heavy vehicles.
- Awoja Bridge on the road between Soroti and Kampala is now confirmed impassable.
- The district road engineer informed that the Awoja bridge will be closed for the remaining of the flood period, however long that might take
- On the alternative road, one of the 2 bridges is weak, it is expected that the authorities will close that bridge for heavy traffic.
- On 23rd September the Government of Australia announced plans to provide urgently needed food, blankets, shelter and clean water to victims of the flood crisis in Africa. Australia would give $1.5 million to help aid agencies on the ground to deliver essential needs.
- On 23rd September Agence France Press reported that Ugandan authorities said on 23rd that fresh rainfall was complicating efforts to deliver aid to areas devastated by massive floods..
