NICARAGUA
- On 6th September PAHO reported that after the decreasing of the strength of the Hurricane the mayor problems are located in the north part of the country. The level of river Ulua and Chamelecon increased putting at risk communities. Red alert was declared for 72 hours in the following municipalities: Potrerillos, Pimienta, Villanueva, San Manuel, La Lima, Choloma, Puerto Cortes and the communities around San Pedro Sula in Cortes department; Tela in the Atlantida department; El Progreso and Santa Rita, in Yoro department and Valle De Quimistan, Macuelizo, Petoa and San Marcos in Santa Barbara department.
- On 6th September IFRC reported that they together with the Red Crescent Societies has launched a preliminary emergency appeal for nearly one million Swiss francs ($825,000 USD/€600,000) to support Red Cross National Societies in the Central American nations being lashed by the remnants of Hurricane Felix. The funds will be used to supply some 23,000 people (4,600 families) with emergency items including tents, mosquito nets, blankets, jerrycans, clothes, bedding and plastic sheeting.
GUATEMALA
- On 6th September Xinhua reported that Felix tropical depression left at least 25,000 victims in Guatemala due to the heavy rainfalls which caused floods in coastal populations.
- Guatemala's National Disaster Reduction Coordination (Conred) said on Thursday that Felix caused four rivers to overflood and it flooded at least 5,000 homes without causing deaths at Puerto Barrios in eastern Izabal department.
- According to news reaching from that Central American country, Guatemala's National Weather Institute said Felix ceased to be a threat and headed towards Mexico, although the rainfalls will continue in most of Guatemala.
