Secondment to the Global Cell
Background:
During last global meeting in October, the new integrated global support cell's structure was presented, discussed and endorsed. The proposed integrated team will include 15 logisticians; 9 of them funded by WFP as a streamlining effort, 2 funded by 2 other UN agencies, 4 "donor" funded NGO staff (with the lead agency actively advocating/fund-raising for the latter).
The Global Cell is structured around 3 pillars:
- Operations support (preparedness and response):
- Information management (including systems & tools)
- Normative guidance (including communication)
NGO secondments and profiles:
Already some NGOs have shown interest to second staff to the Support Cell and are looking are profiles falling under the 3 pillars. To help you better, here are some profiles that would ideally complete the skills set of the cell. They are provided for guidance only. Indeed, staff seconded should have humanitarian logistics experience and be deployable. Profiles are related to:
- operations support
- processes and logistics support systems
- information management
- guidance and policy
