SUMMARY
- Rains began to fall about a week earlier than expected in the Darfurs. In an effort to to support logistical planning, UNJLC will be posting the Darfur Rain Timeline and Seven Day Forecast, provided by Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET). The information will be available weekly by email distribution or at http://www.unjlc.org/content/index.phtml/itemId/14717 on the UNJLC website. West Darfur is likely to receive the most amount of rain in the coming months, making areas surrounding the state capital inaccessible.
- In coordination with OCHA and UNDSS (UN Department of Safety and Security), UNJLC may facilitate a convoy to move the 75 ECHO- funded vehicles to the Darfurs in the timeliest manner possible. All agencies who wish to participate should express their interest to UNJLC Khartoum by the close of business on May 11th. Further details regarding the route, departure date and other organizational details will be provided in due course.
