| Visa Requirements | Syrian nationals with a valid passport can go back into Syria. Iraqis with a valid passport can go back into Iraq. Personnel/Vehicle crossing into Iraq is possible provided the driver has an authorization from the owner to drive the vehicle; the driver/vehicle is in possession of all its papers (i.e. called Mechanic in Syria); the international personnel is in possession of a visa (not required for personnel coming from Arabic countries). It should be explained that the vehicle and its passengers only want to transit through Syria.

This EP is located in the northeast of Syria and is connected with Qamishly (88 km) and further with Aleppo (distance between Aleppo and Qamishly is 420 km, there exists a second road which does not go through Qamishly connecting the border point with Aleppo which is a bit shorter). This is the closest border point for any consignment transiting through Syria from Turkey. The road from Aleppo to al-Yarubiyeh is in good condition (asphalt). This road has also several access points from Turkey. On the Iraqi side, at Tel Kujik, it is connected directly to Mosul with a carrying capacity of 40 MT trucks. From Mosul, there is a good road network to Dahuk, and Erbil and Kirkuk. The distance between Aleppo and Baghdad is 1,066 km.
