General Info:
Jordan has one entry point (EP), namely Al-Karamah located 380 km from Amman (730 km from Aqaba) and bordering with Trebil on the Iraqi side. The border is open for both commercial and humanitarian traffic. The road from Aqaba to Al-Karamah via Amman is a two-lane highway and is in good condition. There is an oil tanker lane that was created to cater to the OFFP however it is currently rarely used.
Morning hours are the busiest as truck drivers spend the night at Al-Karamah border to avoid traveling at night on Highway 10. Roughly 1,200 trucks are processed daily.
Recently the Director of Customs deployed 38 additional customs officers to the border to ensure the expedited processing of both humanitarian and commercial trucks. Furthermore, he approved establishing two humanitarian lanes for westbound and eastbound traffic.
The Government of Jordan is currently investing financial and human resources to expand the number of lanes at the border to facilitate the movement of both humanitarian and commercial traffic through the border.
