Summary
Content
This compendium reflects the USAID Bureau for Global Health (GH) environmental compliance program effort, as of January 2024, to gather and centralize information on healthcare waste treatment facilities and technology types (e.g., incinerators, autoclaves, shredders) operating around the world to facilitate proper healthcare waste management and environmental compliance for USAID projects. USAID is currently incorporating these data into a mapping tool of healthcare waste treatment facilities for use by USAID program offices, missions, and implementing partners. This compendium contains information collected on healthcare waste treatment facilities and their location to date and is being released pending completion of the mapping tool.
