From 28 February to 3 March 2017, the Global Logistics Cluster facilitated the second Information Management (IM) training at WFP HQ, Rome. An intensive and interactive four-day simulation attended by 33 participants from fifteen different organisations, UN agencies and NGOs, with experience in Information Management, Communication and Reporting.
Aimed at improving the understanding and knowledge of Logistics Cluster IM standards, procedures and tools the training was meant to support capacity building of IM Officers deployed to or likely to be deployed in Logistics Cluster operations. Deployed to a fictional country hit by a devastating natural disaster, participants acted to all effects as emergency responders, facing significant challenges and working hard to ensure that accurate and concise information on logistical needs and available services, was shared in real-time to coordinate and support the humanitarian response.

The outstanding engagement of all participants and facilitators made all this a success; participants have just returned to their duty stations after having impressively coordinated the logistical response in Tukastan and can now be ready to deploy at a moment’s notice!
