A REACH regional overview map on mobility patterns and health access vulnerabilities in northeastern DRC and bordering areas has been produced and shared to support Ebola response planning and preparedness efforts.
Following the declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 17 May 2026 in response to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak caused by Bundibugyo virus in Ituri Province, DRC, REACH conducted an initial analysis of available mobility and population-level health indicators to identify potential areas of concern in the coming weeks.
The map highlights areas of potential risk for Ebola transmission at a regional level, based on available historical mobility data from affected areas, as well as selected health access indicators in DRC, South Sudan, and Uganda. It also reflects the rapid increase in confirmed cases and newly affected health zones, using the latest available information on confirmed and suspected cases as of 9 June 2026.
For South Sudan, the map provides visibility on cross-border mobility patterns and health access vulnerabilities in bordering areas, including locations where preparedness, surveillance, and response planning may require further attention.
