Environmental Sustainability Logistics WG

The Global Logistics Cluster through the Environmental Sustainability Team (WREC Coalition) is supporting logistics partners to promote environmental sustainability in humanitarian supply chains across countries. To tailor the support to each specific country, the cluster defined the Country of Focus approach and selected Kenya along with Bangladesh, Colombia, Venezuela, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria countries to start.

To identify collaboration opportunities, the WREC team mapped, with local partner input, the current and planned environmental sustainability initiatives of the WREC Coalition partners in Kenya (DRC Refugee Council, IFRC, Save the Children, WFP) and defined an Action plan 20251 to mainstream environmental sustainability in the Kenyan WREC coalition member supply chains. The mapping included a field visit to Kenya, meetings with coalition representatives, and bilateral discussions in November 2024.

Regular meetings take place for partners and stakeholders operating in Kenya who are interested in learning more and sharing initiatives on sustainable supply chains.
