Cluster Operation

Involved countries:

Description:

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Logistics Cluster supports humanitarian partners responding to escalating conflict, mass displacement and severe infrastructure constraints, particularly in the eastern provinces. In addition, the Cluster is supporting partners engaged in the Ebola emergency outbreak response, facilitating the timely delivery of critical health supplies and strengthening coordination in affected areas. Through national and sub‑national coordination, the Cluster works to address critical logistics bottlenecks that limit access and delay the delivery of lifesaving assistance.

Operating from key hubs including Kinshasa, Bukavu, Bunia, and Goma, the Cluster leads coordination and information management, and supports engagement with authorities on access and customs issues, and provides common services to complement partners’ capacities on a case-by-case basis. These include temporary storage, mobile storage unit loans and targeted transport support on a last‑resort basis, as well as the consolidation and sharing of logistics and access information to enable a more timely and coordinated humanitarian response.
