WFP Shipping has chartered a vessel for the use of the Logistics Cluster in Lebanon for cargo movements (not passengers). It will start with an initial voyage from Brindisi as per schedule below, before getting into a regular shuttle between Limmasol, Cyprus and Beirut.

MV ANAMCARA

Port  Estimated Time of Arrival ( ETA ) Closing for cargo  Estimated time of sailing ( ETS )
 Brindisi  7th Aug.  00 AM     7th   05 AM
 Piraeus    9th Aug. 01PM    10th 01 PM
 Limassol  12th Aug. 11 PM   13th 06 AM
 Beirut  13th Aug.  20 PM

Thereafter the vessel will shuttle regularly between Limassol Hub and Beirut.

Note :
This vessel is a ro-ro/lo-lo vessel and can carry :

  • Rolling stocks like vehicles and trailers
  • Containers ( dry cargo *  &  reefer )
  • Palletized/  Unitised  ( cargoes that can be moved by forklifts)

(any other form of packaging will be subject to a  technical review to see how it can be unitised or loaded to pallets or in containers  prior acceptance )

*WFP is working on agreements with several Shipping Lines to accept that their containers can move all the way to Beirut without having to be transhipped to other containers/ pallets in Limmasol to where the companies are calling. This should ensure better integrity of the cargo. So far an agreement is in place with Mediterranean Shipping Company.
