The ICRC, UNHCR, and IFRC have launched on May 1st, 2021 a research and development project to design a new tarpaulin with a lesser environmental impact. The objective of the project is to improve the tarpaulin design to further reduce the environmental impact of the tarpaulin distributions.
This document outlines the phased approach followed by the organizations to design a new tarpaulin specification, measure improvements and test the new specification, in HQ and in the field.
