Logistics Cluster Update
Logistics Cluster transportation operations have now ceased and staff in Manila are working to close the project by its anticipated end date of 31 December 2009.
Logistics Cluster air operations concluded as of 30 November 2009. On 11 Dec 2009, the two MI-171s were successfully transported out of the Philippines on an IL-76. Since operations began 15 Oct 2009, air operations have flown 389 rotations (250.17hrs), carrying 2,394 passengers and 410 mt of food and not-food items for the Logistics Cluster.
Surface transport to affected areas finished on 12 Dec 2009. Since operations began on 09 Oct 2009, surface transport operations have completed more than 150 trips and was utilized by DSWD, UNFPA, UNHAS, UNICEF and WFP.
The mobile storage hubs in Laoag and at Wallace Airbase in San Fernando La Union have now dismantled and transported to DSWD's National Resource Operational Centre (NROC) warehouse. A third Logistics Cluster mobile storage hub in Baguio is currently being emptied but will continue to support DSWD's surface transport operations until it is dismantled in the coming weeks.
