A WFP-chartered ship delivered emergency relief items to the port of Misurata, Libya, on 23 April, on behalf of the I-GO Aid Foundation, Islamic Relief, UNICEF and WFP.
The ship carried 500 metric tons (mt) of food, 84 mt of bottled water, 12 mt of medical supplies and three ambulances. Extensive coordination among humanitarian organizations across Egypt, Libya and Malta made the journey a success. This was WFP’s second sea delivery to Misurata since the crisis began. On 7 April, WFP delivered relief cargo, including food, emergency health kits and surgical materials from WFP, WHO and UNICEF to the port.
The pictures below document the loading of the ship in Valletta Port, Malta.
