Following the disputed presidential elections in November 2010 and the post-electoral crisis, the Logistics Cluster has been activated in Côte d’Ivoire and is supporting the humanitarian community with logistics capacity and coordination mechanisms.

CIV picture 2A Logistics Cluster coordination cell including a dedicated Logistics Cluster Coordinator has been established in Abidjan and Man. The cell is working closely with the humanitarian community to identify possible gaps and bottlenecks in the logistics response and to ensure the uninterrupted supply of life saving relief items to the affected population in Côte d’Ivoire.

Since 2007 the Logistics Cluster has been coordinating WFP Logistics Services for the Humanitarian Community. This service supports humanitarian response in terms of multi-modal transport (air, water, road, rail) and storage of NFIs.

DRC Logistics Services 1This inter-agency service has facilitated the delivery of 52,016 mt of NFIs from the humanitarian community in DRC from which 16,692 mt was transported during 2010. The consistency the transport service is providing has been vital for relief items to reach communities in the most remote areas of DRC requiring transporters to overcome excruciating obstacles along the way.
