Logistics Cluster Global Meeting

Logistics Cluster Global Meeting

In late November 2017 in the snowy mountains of Switzerland, the second of the bi-annual Logistics Cluster Global Meetings took place.

This meeting, organised in collaboration with Medair in Leysin and attended by 67 people from a total of 52 organisations was the first since the establishment of the Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) at the previous Global Meeting in Bonn in May 2017. During the meeting, the SAG updated attendees on the progress of their activities and presented on their achievements since the Global Meeting in Bonn.

During the event, discussions also focused on the theme which was selected by Logistics Cluster partners and the SAG, “trends in logistics and supply chain technology.” A speaker from the World Economic Forum (WEF) provided the keynote speech which looked at technological advancements that have taken place since the industrial revolution from the private sector angle and how they could be applied to enhance humanitarian responses. Sessions were also held on Logistics Cluster service provision, an update on operations and for the second time, a market place session whereby partners could present on innovative projects and activities that their organisations are currently involved in.
